The glass protected her from the spray of water beyond. 
Yet, she felt a drop
making its way down her cheek."

And for him, it was like a sinner that finally found a church to clean him. He needed her to find himself back, he needed her to fix him. She knew that he wasn't perfect but she loved his imperfection.
