Rated mature for: Swearing Mature concepts Violence This book is dedicated to everyone who inspired me, encouraged me and stuck by me while I debated giving up on the concept for this book altogether. You all know who you are... I wanted to tell a story that breaks the norm to some aspect. Where the main character is a boy, not a girl. Where he is not perfect. And where he is even a - not bad - but does bad things sometimes. It's a story of coming into yourself and forging your own path. Despite how hard that path can be to walk. Choices you face, how you'll react to them. What to do when you've done something bad and how you can fix it. If you should fix it. Each choice you make - weather you realize it or not - forges the person you are. For every door you close another one is waiting to be opened. This is not a perfect story, but it's one I want to tell. One that comes from a personal place in my heart and one that is born in reality and bathed in fantasy. This story will deal with aspects of both worlds. And sometimes touch on heavier topics. Be prepared, to read about a character who is the farthest thing from perfect. But he doesn't need to be. He just needs to be himself. Oh, how hard that truly is.

My father once said to me, "This universe we live in is tricky. It never gives us exactly what we want but always shows us who we need." Granted, he was coming out of anesthesia after leg surgery and was pretty loopy and doesn't remember saying this at all. I live every day hoping that it's true but I'm always at war in my own head thinking that it probably isn't. Main Characters- Luukas is 17 and he's doing pretty well considering he recently survived a second suicide attempt. Out of the hospital and on his way home but he's already worrying that there will be a third time. His favorite book is They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera. Even though he has a permanently gloomy outlook on life he wants to find love. Current songs on repeat are Young Love by Eli Lieb, Sad Song by We The Kings, and Ashes by Celine Dion. Emitherios (aka Bailey) is 19 and wants nothing to do with his biological family or his adoptive family. He's on his own now but starting when he was 14 hey had kept him at a military academy, then a wilderness program, then a boys ranch for over four years. He's been on his own for over a year and he's looking for someone he can trust. He looks like he's got it all figured out, but he definitely does not. Theme- Luukas and Emitherios (Em for short) are teenage boys that find each other and then work to come together. Mental illness (Luukas) and a history of abuse and neglect (Em) do not make trusting or staying together easy for them. True love doesn't happen right away; it's an ever-growing process. It develops after you've gone through many ups and downs, when you've suffered together, cried together, laughed together. - Ricardo Montalban. - NOTE -- Copyrighted work here, all rights reserved.

Prologue How does one find the strength to stand with a defiance rivaled only by his courage? How does one still possess purity when his innocence was stolen? Could one forgive the monsters? How does one learn to love for the first time? How does one learn to love himself? You may not understand, agree or accept the ways one chooses to deal with and surpass the darkness threatening to consume them.
