Rylan Marcey hates Lucca Marino.
  Lucca Marino hates Rylan Marcey.
It's supposed to be that simple.

Except it's not. Nothing is ever quite simple where Rylan and Lucca are involved. Their once mutual disdain for one another in middle school has become an obsessive hatred during their high school years. Rylan couldn't help his daydreams of hanging Lucca upside down from their school's tall red goal post. Same as how Lucca couldn't help his recurring dreams of running over Rylan with his motorcycle, repeatedly. However, there wasn't anything wrong with having bad-or good depending how you felt about it-thoughts of the person you hated.

It was the consistent pattern that both Rylan and Lucca had involving the other that wasn't okay. The thoughts. The fights. The connection. It was unhealthy and both boys needed it to stop before they drove themselves crazy. And a perfect way for any hormonal heterosexual boy to distract himself was simple; girls, girls and girls. Except there was one girl both boys had set their sights on. There was one, Reagan Colburn, who knew Lucca, planned to get to know Rylan, and knows exactly what to do to get under both of their skins. This however didn't stop Rylan, nor Lucca from pursing her.

The problem with them trying not to get involved with each other, while fighting for the same person, is that the both Lucca and Rylan are bound to end up being caught up in each other's lives once again and because of this they both subconsciously choose not to resisted the fight.
