Long ago, there was a spark lit when the world of Coa was in one of its darkest ages. Now, that spark has been extinguished, two armies tear the world apart fighting for control over it. Those who seek peace amidst the opposition are the ones who suffer the most as the young Khyber Levitates has found out when left by her parents to lead the Dawns.

Her leadership is slowly undermined, and Khyber has no choice but to fight back. However, when her brother Kamlin is brought back to the Dawns severely burned by an unknown magical entity, Khyber must choose family or leadership. When Kamlin tells he has glowing blood, her final choice is made and Khyber makes the choice to rebuild the Dawns with Kamlin's newly-discovered abilities.

Fate takes a different turn though, and Khyber finds herself fleeing alongside her brother when she finds out the Dawns want to kill both of them. When Kamlin disappears after their aircraft is shot down, Khyber knows something is telling her she needs to find a strong ally. She finds such in an uncommon person: Valdin Twinsworth her ex-fiancé who now can control the mystique powers known as Chios. Valdin learns that she is just like him in their struggles, and is determined to renew the Dawns alongside her. Both of them all the while finding out their barriers against their old love are not as hard as they once thought...
