The war never happened. All the couples got married and had kids. Divergents are still a big threat, but there is a bigger threat now. Resurgent. They can control their fears, like a divergent, but someone who is resurgent can control and block out pain. Resurgence is extremely rare, but very threatening to the faction system. A resurgent has aptitude for all five factions. When Tris and Tobias' daughter, Al, finds out she is resurgent, she goes through the challenges of trust and loyalty, to find who she really is
