The Wood of Astfall is friend to no man. Its timbers hide packs of wolves and shadows that strip the minds of the rangers who seek to subdue it.

Watchmen hold the single wall that separates the grove and its depths from the people of Arcath who struggle to survive in its shadow. Death, legend, and rumor mix together into a potion that taste of bitterness and loss but one that every person of Arcath must swallow. Aster knows it as well as any, struggling to fulfill the demands of his new position as a member of the Watch despite news of the frequent death's of his companions.

But all that changes when an elven stranger appears before the city's gates with a tale of harrowing spilling from his lips. He tells of a land in the south were war has stirred and of his own people's destruction at the hands of their might foes. Finally, he tells of the mighty prowess his elven people carry with them and succeeds in stirring unprecedented curiosity among the city's woodsmen.

What lies within Astfall?
And, more importantly, can it be defeated?

The northerner's are reluctantly convinced that perhaps whatever plagues the nearby woods is not beyond their axes or their new companion's sword. Inspired by his words, the city musters a band of hunters and fighters to seek the truth within the shadowy timbers of the forest. Chains of duty and misfortune bind Aster to this task that secretly calls him to answer a mystery of his past.

But fate spins a fearful twist in the brash curiosity of the northern folk. The misty mire that envelops the band is not the only danger in those darkened parts of Niron. Foes rise and fall like shadows in this thrilling tale of danger and deceit until nothing - not even one's own heart - is above suspicion. The promise of glory as allusive as the forest's horrors until Aster finds himself fighting not for honor, family, or city but survival.

The path fate lays before us is often many years in the making, and the tale of the Phoenix and the God-spawn is no different. Nearly 3,000 years before the war that would bring about Astaroth's defeat, another battle was waged to ensure there would be a future to fight for. Duty has been thrust upon Prince Azael Cadhael for centuries, first by filling the role of an uncrowned King, but his true story begins as all royal stories do: with a ball, a secret, and a peculiar dream. When Azael overhears the whispered plans of his betrothed and her twin brother to leave with the Phoenix on a goddess-given quest, he must surrender to a new type of duty entirely. Navigating his ever increasingly strained relationship with Tissaia Lochren while striving to save the future of his kingdom isn't a job easily done, and her closeness with the Phoenix, Kaius, certainly doesn't make it any easier. Tissaia has spent years in the shadows of her own failure and her father's wrath. Kaius's quest offers her and her brother Talarion a chance to claim their freedom at long last, but fighting ones' past can be just as deadly as fighting an armed foe, especially if that past isn't keen on backing down. If they're going to succeed, all four of them must learn to recognize the power in truth and bared secrets, as well as the strength in kinship. If they fail, it could mean the doom of all Asterria for an age. But if they succeed, perhaps fate will be kinder than they have been led to believe. Warning: This book, while being a work of fiction, still deals with real and mature elements. There will be chapters dealing with abuse, gore, PTSD, torture, sexual content, and other topics. "Between the Jaws of Fate, a spark shall ignite, born of shadow and flame, a breath against the void. Its cry will shatter the silence, a sound the gods will fear, and its steps will weave the end of all that was known. When the rivers run black and the skies open their veins, chains unseen will crumble, and what sleeps shall wake. In its veins, the threads of creation unravel, and in its shadow, the world will bow or break. Beware the herald of dusk and dawn, for its will is neither mercy nor malice, but the breaking of the wheel, and the scream of what lies beyond." Eowyn Aeloria, heir to the gods' throne in Ebonmere, has spent her life under her mother, Queen Vespera's, tyrannical rule and harsh consequences. When she has a run in with Cylas, a brooding blacksmith hiding from the shadows of his own bloodline, they discover a connection that defies the boundaries between their warring worlds- and Queen Vespera forbidding their entanglement, along with a life-changing revelation, sparks a dangerous rebellion neither of them can resist. Cylas, once a ruthless general for the Sylvaneth kingdom of Noctyra, seeks refuge from a violent past-and from his mother, Queen Elira, who has made it her life's work to eradicate Eowyn's kind from existence through any means necessary. But meeting Eowyn awakens both his heart and a power that he can no longer keep hidden. As Eowyn and Cylas battle to keep their bond secret, whispers of an ancient power and prophecy awaken, placing them in the center of a conflict that could either save their world or destroy it. Now, with the future of the people of each of their kingdoms hanging in the balance, Eowyn and Cylas must decide if they should follow the path that is already written, or to feed the Jaws of Fate. ***There may be edits and changes until the entirety of the book is completed; so I apologize in advance for that***

https://books2read.com/u/mK59VE This isn't some fairy tale. I researched and wrote this for EVERYONE. An introduction to my universe. Stick with it. When you get to the action parts (which doesn't take long ) you should be invested enough to want to unravel the mystery and enjoy its intrigue.. The flood is raging. A terrifying, heartless mountain of water, swallowing the world in inevitable finality. The tunnel networks? Of course, that won't save them. The forests? Like leaves in a breeze. The lookout towers and trade hubs? Gone. Washed clean. What does it take to take everything? Every home, every name, every last trace of what once was. And who would do such a thing? And how? No one has ever seen anything that would make them believe in magic. Gamleon is the first to see and to survive. His mind near collapse under the strain, his heart broken. He runs. What would you do? What could anyone do? A world of mythological beasts and medieval men, where Gorgon hordes slither beneath the earth, clawing for metal, for power, for anything. But they come for your children. Opulent kings wage wars over things no one can even recall, blind to the coming obliteration. There is an isolated, forgotten place. A cavern, magnificent and vast, older than civilization. A place where the weird and the unwanted might ride out the cataclysm. In this special place, something incredible, cut off from the outside, lurks. Something... you won't be ready for or ever expect. Our weary, world-worn adventurer is a paradox: terrifying perhaps, yet tender, grotesque but with a quiet dignity bordering on noble, intimidating and innately intelligent. With no choice but to navigate the unexpected Gorgon tunnels, his inner thoughts help us all learn how to persist and triumph in the face of impossible odds. Join him and be swept away as he reconciles never-before-seen innovations and insurmountable challenges. Dignity and hope. Self-respect and courage.
