Getting accepted into an amazing photography program is Anna's dream, the fact that the program is in London is even better. But life is never that simple. Dealing with family issues and starting over in a new country Anna meets smug yet intoxicating Harry with his own set of issues. With new friendships and a new life Anna does her best to stay clear of the drama that suddenly seems to follow her. Including the tall British guy covered in tattoos with piercing green eyes and the worlds most intoxicating smirk. Who she just can't seem to get rid of. (BOOK ONE - LOST SERIES) "You like old shit huh?" A deep voice startles me, making me flinch slightly at the closeness of it. The voice came from behind me and I recognize it immediately. My body is suddenly frozen in place as I try to figure out if it's acceptable for me to ignore him till he goes away. I can smell his cologne and feel him standing far too close behind me looking over my shoulder at the cameras in the case in front of me. I swear this guy doesn't understand personal space. "Actually, I just like cameras," I correct him with a sassy tone staring up at him. He doesn't break our steady eye contact but what surprises me is neither do I. It's like I can't look away. He suddenly gets an idea, a bold one, but he can't help but share it. "If neither of us are married by thirty, let's get married." Obviously, she'll be married by thirty. Surely, someone will sweep her off her feet and put a ring on her finger in the next twelve years, it's inevitable with the type of person she is. Deep down he wants it to be him, but he wouldn't dare make a move that could ruin the strongest friendship he's had his entire life. Maddie finds herself smiling at Harry's idea, she loves it. It won't happen though, because some girl in the future is bound to fall in love with Harry and his kind heart, and he'll be head over heels for her too. It's inevitable that someone will fall in love with his dimpled smile and caring soul, and even though Maddie already has, she wouldn't dare make a move that could ruin the strongest friendship she's had her entire life. The age of thirty is twelve years away for them, it's too obvious that nothing will come from this harmless bet. "Deal." "Really?" Harry raises his eyebrows, amused at her response. "Really." They shake hands just as the song comes to an end and another one begins. But Harry doesn't let go of Lainey's hand, instead he catches her off guard by spinning her under his arm and dipping her. August is starting her first year of college, ready to turn a new page in the book that is her life. After running away from her hometown two years prior, she has started a new life in San Francisco, working in a café and making new friends. That is, until she sees a ghost from her past, someone she would have given everything to, but who she had to leave behind: her best friend Harry Styles. But is there too much brokenness between them, or is their relationship mendable? "Right," Harry said awkwardly. "August, this is Blaine, my roommate, and Blaine, this is August, my..." a slow pause followed his statement, as he tried to figure out how to define her. How could he? She had been his best friend since they were 7 years old, then his first and only love, and now she was a ghost from his past. She had been the only person that always understood him, his only escape, his breath of fresh air. He had never loved anyone the way he loved her, and when she had left, his world had fallen apart. Now, looking at her, with her big blue eyes and messy hair, his heart broke a little at the thought of describing her as his friend from home. She was so much more than that. "... my friend from home." His voice cracked when he pronounced those words, and she quickly looked down at her feet, trying to bite down the tears threatening at her eyes. Friend from home. What a terrible label.
