Despite their differences, the two are constantly forced together, seeing as Luke is dating Hollis's twin sister, Mary. When Mary gets the chance to fulfill her dreams of becoming a professional dancer, she indifferently forces Hollis and Luke together once again by having Hollis pretend to be someone she's not.
A convincing speech, a scheduling mishap, and a monetary promise leave a made-over Hollis playing the role of Mary for a month long vacation with Luke's family. On this trip, Hollis discovers who Luke really is, while he continues thinking that everything is the same, apart from the unexpected deepening of his feelings towards the girl he assumes is Mary. When the two return home, Luke will have to discover the truth or standby as his one chance at love disappears forever.
