Kerry and his father, Jin, are both living on a remote island. All of the natives dislike them, except for one girl named Elena. A religious leader on the island, Father Ferdinand, tells the natives that Jin is in the relation to the devil, hence his magic using. Jin had previously lived in Liptover, a dark industrial city. Jin was exiled there due to his use of dark magic. He had been researching immortality, a very controversial and illegal magic. Jin chose Elena as his apprentice, and she believes in the good in Jin's work.
