Philophobia: The fear of falling in love and becoming attached to people.
Not letting yourself connect to others leads to severe loneliness, depression and anxiety.
Virgil had Philophobia, and he knew it. The others thought of him as an 'Emo Nightmare' or a 'Negative Nancy' but really, he was just afraid. Afraid of what would happen if any of them tried to get too close to him.
He didn't want to hurt anyone - but it was too late for that...
