Zach pauses momentarily, letting his shirt fall back into its rightful position. "Hey, are you all right? You're kinda spacin'."
Gray shakes his head softly, gently sliding off the mattress. "Nothing. It's just. . . I guess you can call them battle scars, right? A memory of, not the bad things you've been through, but the shit you've defeated in life."

It was five years ago today that Zach Mitchell had been forced to leave his younger brother behind. He was hunted, imperiled. . .anguished. Nothing was more important to him than the peppy little 11-year-old who tried to follow in his big brother's footsteps. Who saw him as nothing less than the most powerful superhero, despite the reckless mistakes Zach has made along his teen years.
Today is the day that the now-21-year-old can attempt at recapturing his brother's trust. Since he's been released from his seemingly endless spell, he can attempt to earn back those five years of both ache and luxuries that he's missed out on.
