"Mate," he whispered, as if he couldn't believe it. 

I wouldn't look up; I didn't want to confirm it. "No," I stated, "I'm sixteen, I haven't even lived life." 

"You can live life with me, dear mate," he said with a dangerous glint crossing his eyes. He took a few steps toward me. Each step suffocating me with his presence. 

"No, no, no, step away," I cried to no avail. If I didn't do anything, it would be over; I would be over. 

"Moon goddess, I call upon the blue moon endowment," I all but screamed. 

"NO!" he roared, but it was too late. We fell back with the sheer force of the moon goddess' blessing upon me.

They call it the blue moon endowment , a gift to the younger mates who were found under the age of 18. 

It turned the soft sparks of the mate bond into dangerous currents of electricity. It acted as a shield to the young ones.
