And she drags him back into a movement fighting against inequality and oppression. In the face of monsters, both human and otherwise.
This is a novel I've been working on for a while now. First thing I ever decided to write. I don't think it will ever go anywhere, but here it is. If enough people like it, maybe I'll come back to it at some point.

I have sat often in front of the computer, and stared long at the screen without ever writing a word. The synopsis for this project has haunted me since the first person asked me "So, what is it about?", and to this day I have never been able to deliver a straight answer. This book is about a number of things, many of which do not fit evenly into a succinct description. I have tried to make them fit and have found the resulting descriptions ill-representing and dull. Thus, I have decided to go without a description. This book will fade into obscurity no matter what I put here, so I might as well write what's really important. Winter in a city is an especially punishing time. This book comes out of my late nights and early mornings riding the train, and my looking at the window and being able to make out nothing but the blur of the glass. From the outside it may look dead, but certain people know that the inner workings of a city are a true marvel to behold. In writing this, I have tried to capture that marvel and deliver it to you, the reader. This is a book about a city and the people within it. The rest is up for you to read, if you so choose. The first bucket list item: going to one of Portland's psychedelic centers together and taking Vivectica ™, a potent psychedelic drug (synthesized by none other than Nakomi) that has become a popular form psyche-therapy. Izzy reluctantly agrees, and when she encounters a hyper-intelligent reptilian entity on her trip, she can't convince herself that he wasn't real. The days are ticking down until her trip, but Izzy, becoming obsessed with the creature, can't get over her feelings that either 1) she's given herself drug-induced psychosis right before her journey to the red planet, or 2) there's something out there, something beyond space...
