The Princess of the Night Dragon

An almost-adult boy, an orphan, by the name of Drystan, or Drys, lives with his herbalist grandmother. His grandmother is a great storyteller, telling him about the wonders of the earth and her young days. One day, trouble comes when the lad is in the forest, gathering herbs, and his grandmother and the people of the village he lived in have been killed by some travelers. The home he once knew is only a huge pile of scattered burnt wood. He flees back to the forest as he sees a lone traveler scavenging through the piles and runs all the way to a strange world, much like the stories that his grandmother told him. Using the knowledge from his herbalist past and the old diary he finds at his house, he has to survive the new world beyond the bubble of his home.
