April Fools

"Are you really going to kill me, human?" he murmured against her ears, sending small shivers along her body as his warm breath tickled her skin.

Taking a step away and shaking away whatever un-nameable feeling this was, Isadora couldn't help but let a slight smirk creep onto her face.

"No, because killing you would be way too merciful for a soulless creature like yourself. Don't underestimate me bloodsucker, it will be your undoing."

On the 1st of April every year, a ball is held at the historic site of Castle 'des morts'. And every year - without fail - a number of civilians will go missing, never to return from the annual celebration.
Nobody knows what happens, it's all proclaimed as a joke - after all, it is April Fools.

But Isadora Evalee knows better.

Not all is what it seems, and she may be the only person who can stop them - saving her town from the demons that lurk within the shadows.
