The war against abnegation never happened and they all moved on with their lives. Years passed and the factions continued working normaly. Soon everyone got maried and had their own children. In the dauntless compound these children start finding out about some shadowhunters that live outside the fence (New york) This is the story about how they join together and they create the Chicago Institute. Ps: this is a mix between divergent and the mortal instruments

I register the popping sounds as gunshots. Immediately my brain thinks 'War'. All of a sudden it feels like someone is tightening their hands around my throat and I can't breath. I clutch my chest and try to take deep breaths, but I can't breathe. I feel my mums hand on my back and I realise I've slowed down a bit. I forget about what's going on around me and I just push forward, as fast as my legs will carry me. War has broken out in Maddy Richard's city of Chicago. She has to prove to herself that she can survive without having to rely on someone else. As she ventures through the city, she has to face things that she has never encountered before. Holding a gun is one thing she had never done before. Just looking at one she felt like she could hurt someone. Killing someone is another thing she had never done...
