Update: The first rule of writing is to follow through and edit later. I discontinued this book because it was not well written, it was not planned out, and it was not consistent. Therefore I will continue to write it, for the sake of completion and giving Michael an end (in more ways than one) I will finish this. Beck is top of her class when it comes to Maths and Science and her future seems bright. However, she struggles with social anxiety and relationships. Beck is autistic and spends most of her life locked away in her own mind as she reads her collection of books to escape her abusive alcoholic father. But once her eyes meet a grey eyed boy from across the room her world won't be the same. (18+ violence, adult themes, bullying, harassment and other issues) Being Autistic myself I have put a lot of me in this book. I've exaggerated certain aspects for entertainment values but other than that this is how awkward I feel most of the time. I don't see many books by women who write about their experiences in a creative way to spread awareness in a fun and compassionate way. This is mine I guess. Bonnie and her seven brothers lives changed forever, after the sudden and tragic death of Bonnies' parents, eight years ago. They had to find a way to survive and make ends meet, staying with their uncle and cousins until her oldest brother, Alexander could become their legal guardian. Bonnie has never really 'loved' herself. When she was younger, she would always pick out something about her she didn't like. Whether it was a bruise on her arm, or her slightly disheveled hair, she would be upset and unhappy with her appearance. She has always craved to be liked, loved and accepted. She's now 14 and is starting her first year as a freshman at high school. Though high school isn't going to be easy like it was for her popular, loud brothers. Jealousy. Heartbreak. Bullies. Pressure. Judgement. Adapting to a new change is hard. Bonnie can't quite take it, she gets overwhelmed, and her brain feels too 'busy'. She can't help feeling what it would be like if she wasn't there or if she stayed silent, nobody would notice. She doesn't crave to be a popular girl, or to be eye candy for the boys, she just wants to be known as 'pretty' and liked. Her worst nightmare is to be known as the far girl, or the ugly one. This need becomes overwhelming, and soon her body shuts down, and her mental health plummets. She does some things, things she will regret in the future yet in the moment cures her need to feel alive, it brings satisfaction. Will her older brothers be able to save her? What happens when it all gets too much? They might be able to save her from other people, but can they save her from herself?... One can never know everything about a person and what hides behind those smiles they have or what made them the way they are. Alexa has been really into art ever since she started following classes at school. Now her teacher tells her she might have a shot at getting a spot in the special program, something which is incredibly hard to do. Marc's life has been pretty simple, a normal family and never really any issues at school or anywhere else. It seemed as though that would never change. That is, until he gets a phone call from his dad, telling him that he and his mom will be leaving on a long business trip and he'll have to live with a nanny. Yes, a nanny. wrong turn. I got a wrong turn. I, Alexa Johnson, make another huge mistake in life by believing in someone and giving all my heart to him and then let him crushed my heart and throw it away just like it is not important. I realize that I am too easy to open my heart for someone else without thinking about consequences. I can say I regret making such a decision. I thought my life would be perfect after I failed my first marriage, but I was wrong in everything. Everything I did is wrong.
