As long as there have been humans, there have been vampires. No one really knows why, it's just always been like that. The most accepted theory is that because of extreme hunger in some areas long, long ago, some humans evolved so they could feed off each other, but nothing is certain.

What is certain is the extreme hatred between humans and vampires, which caused many wars. Because of this, a contract was made in the year 1900 in the United States, named the Contract of Separation. This contract states that from 08.00, humans can roam the Earth freely, but once 20.00 rolls around, any humans outside are prey for the vampires, in the same way that vampires out after 08.00 can be killed freely.

This Contract was the foundation of the Law of Abandonment. Any human or vampire who commits a crime, will be released upon the beginning of their race's curfew to be killed by the other race. If any of them survive, they'll get to live in peace and wealth until they die. Some even actively committed a crime just because of that possibility, but few ever survived.

It was with these thoughts churning through her mind that fourteen-year old Y/N was thrown in a holding cell for stealing an apple. While accepting the fact that she would die just an hour after imprisonment, Y/N met seventeen-year old Oh Sehun, who definitely didn't plan on dying upon release. 

So Y/N decided that she wasn't going to either.

But I'm what we call a "Maturling". Maturlings are at least a century old. In vampire years, I'm one hundred, on the dot. Though in human years, I'm about twenty-four. There is a third category of vampires called "Purelings". Purelings are vampires who have always been － well, vampires, － and have never had a single human in their family tree. Purelings, unlike all other vampires, can turn a human at any age. (Imagine being turned into a vampire by a teething toddler... yikes). Like with all cultures, there are things that are forbidden. Vampire's lives in Earth just like Humans do. Vampires also have necessities. They have family, they seek for shelter and so called home. They wear clothes they want. Just not as flashy as humans do. They like to wear darker shade of color. They hunt for their food, they kill their prey and fulfill their hunger. Just a bit different with humans. Vampires preys on Humans blood. Vampires can be a loner in terms of hunting but the best way to hunt is to be with your family. Chanting your prey or seduce them. There is a rare case for a vampire to roam alone in a city but when they do they always leave without a trace. They don't settle to one place for a long time. Passing your Bloodlines to the next generation is very important too. Every bloodline has hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of vampires, scattered all throughout the world. Every bloodlines has a very powerful king or queen that settles to old castles or huge caves. Powerful? Magical? That's what Humans terms for what they use to enchant their prey. Bloodlines? What bloodline is he from?
