Nicole Reynolds has traveled from school to school. Now, in the second half of her senior year, she is the new student at Oak Ridge Academy. Something is different at this school, however. The kids aren't what she expected. The school itself is a bit odd. Something just feels... off.
Nicole can't wait to be done with school, and traveling, and meeting new people, but before the class of 2041 can graduate, there's something her and the other students must take care of first, and it's a lot bigger of a task than any of them could have expected.

Up until she turned 15, Emma's life was ordinary. Living in Los Angeles, she had a few friends, and loved learning history. Strangely, this same pattern had appeared earlier in spring at a San Bernardino High School. Coincidence? Rebecca, Emma's other cousin, thinks not. Rebecca quickly suspects a connection and begins investigating Bobby's past and persona. As Emma befriends him, she struggles to believe that someone like Bobby could be capable of crimes so vicious. Rebecca reminds her that one of the only ways to permanently kill a vampire is with a stake through the heart-in much more poetic terms, heart right through Verdugo.

Ghosts... You immediately think about haunted houses and creaky floorboards but have you ever heard of a haunted school? A teenage girl has a power of seeing ghosts which makes her life harder than it already is. She has to deal with the usual teenager problems, school work, boy problems and a ghost that just won't leave her alone. I'M GOING TO START EDITING THIS PROBABLY. If you go to Our Lady of the Black Veil Academy, chances are you know the names Cass Landry, Rebecca Lovelace, and Mallory Meksawan. Cass Landry being the mysterious new girl with a tendency to practice magic illegally, Rebecca being notorious for lighting up every room she walks into, and Mallory being the second in command it-girl of Black Veil, as famed as she is feared. After a magical attempt to escape detention goes terribly, horribly wrong and their ethics teacher winds up dead (ironic, they know), Cass must band together with Rebecca, the girl she "totally doesn't like", and Mallory, another girl she doesn't like (but like...for real this time) to find a spell that can bring their teacher back to life before her situation becomes permanent. A spell of this caliber, however, requires that they venture into the underground world of their picturesque town, striking a deal with a powerful gang leader that not only raises the stakes, but gives them an even tighter timeline. And though as a witch Cass has personal experience with life and death, the pressure that she's facing now might just be too tough to handle. Luckily, she's not alone.
