As Aaliyah's parents take an overseas trip they leave her to live in a hood across the country with her cousin Latrelle, Aunt and her abusive boyfriend who gets her affiliated to the prophets gang. Aaliyah makes friends with a group of kids and one of the members are part of the rival gang. As Aaliyah tries to get through her freshman year, her new home is unsafe, family secrets are revealed, and she travels through the most devastating moments in her life, yet she has her friends and rival gang leader to lean in for support and new memories.
