In this world, everyone has a talent that defines them. Whether it's activity you're good at, or a characteristic about you, or a power you possess, everyone finds out about in during their teenage years. Your talent is shown as a symbol that appears in your eyes. Shorty after, you meet your soulmate who shares a somewhat similar talent.
However, there is a prophecy. A person who possesses the ability of fire will be responsible for the Earth destruction unless they meet their equal, their soulmate.
Alex is an ordinary high schooler. He and his friend John have yet to find their talents yet, despite being in their sophomore year.
Aaron is a new student at King High School. He has to adjust to new life in New York and try and find his talent while he's at it.

In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper.
