During my time in a Creative Writing class, I was assigned a poetry portfolio project. We had to write two of each of the five poetry types: sonnets, limericks, odes, haikus, and free verses.
I chose to give the whole portfolio the theme of the phoenix rising from the ashes to be reborn. Each poetry type was given a smaller theme that related to the overall theme. So this portfolio is meant to flow similarly to how a story would.
•Sonnets: the pain/conflict
•Limericks: feeling bad
•Odes: the worst point of the pain
•Haikus: recovering
•Free verses: coming out stronger after everything
