Cities around the Pacific are abandoned, the population in the city are only kaijus. The Precursors have populated what left of the East Coast, of the United States and turned it to their colonial base. What is left of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps have established their main bases in parts of Europe. All remaining Jaegers are hidden in a base within Siberia. Humanity will take its last stand and this is their story.

The story takes place in a world besieged by Kaiju, towering monsters that emerge from underwater rifts. Humanity's only defense is through Jaegers, enormous mechs piloted by two people connected through a neural link, or "Drift," sharing thoughts, memories, and emotions.
