Pendulum is a vast city, clockwork and steam fusing together in a delicate symphony of lies and mystery. When thousands of people disappear from Pendulum, the city is thrown into a state of mayhem, demanding answers and rioting the streets. The people return two weeks later, confused and memories hazy, remembering nothing but darkness from the time that they were gone. All seems well again, despite the whispers in the city that far more is at play than it seems.
Barely a week after the people have returned, airships crash out of the sky and steam trains derail, destroying the city of Pendulum and killing thousands. Pendulum rebuilds, rising from the ashes, and during this time; theories are formed, mysteries are snatched up.
A mysterious alliance known only as the Fireflies; rises up from the burning wreckage of Pendulum. They believe that these two events were not accidents. They believe they are connected.
That the government of Pendulum is behind these malevolent events.
They believe it is not over.
The Fireflies will uncover secrets far more sinister than any of them were ever prepared for, and they will be swallowed by darkness that they never saw coming.

Beneath the Shadowlanders

50 parts Complete

We knew something wasn't right from the moment we awoke. It was like something was missing - a part of our very souls - and we couldn't sense the deficiency, no matter how hard we tried. A hundred million eyes adjusted to the dark all at once, all surprised to be awakened so soon. We ran through our checklists of limbs and senses, drawing ourselves out of our dreams piece by piece. Some went back to sleep, unaware, unbothered, too tired to notice the difference. Some lay in bed, too anxious to stand until the light of dawn crept through their windows at last, and they were sure the monsters in their closets had gone back to sleep. Some leapt from their slumbers, more keenly aware than others that the missing pieces were important. But we didn't know. We couldn't have. Not until we found ourselves standing in the light and discovered: We no longer had shadows.
