Corporations own your contract based on how useful your Gift is and how valuble that makes you. Humans born without a Gift are refused Citizenship and there are many Corporations that are working towards eliminating the rights those 'Duds' retain, turning them into expendable chattel. The Military has sent Olivia and four other soldiers undercover at the University for Wanted Gifts, a prestigeous private University in the hopes that these soldiers will return with information that the Military can use to regain control of all the Corporations. But they are also using this chance to exerpiment on these undercover soldiers to see how prototypes work under real life conditions. I see the world through different eyes--literally. Some people would say I have it all. I'm smart, have popular friends and my parents are loaded. One deadly weekend at the family lake house changes all that. When I wake up in a strange facility in the middle of nowhere, I'm told that I'm being held for the public's safety and that I've been given a gift. I can see threads of light around objects that can be manipulated to change ordinary things into new and, sometimes, unworldly contraptions. But to call it a gift? It's actually pretty freaky. But the facility director has got to be the worst. He's completely obsessed with unlocking my abilities, not to mention he's a psychopath. To make matters worse, there's this boy I like. The government wants to build a magical army that is being trained to fight against something that could destroy everything in existence. With the struggles of a love triangle forming Brandon and Derek, will have to put aside their feelings and help Kayla hide her powers from the government and figure out why she's so special out of all the "others" before its too late.
