Around one hundred years ago there was a nuclear war on Earth. The chemicals in the atmosphere meant that anyone with a specific genetic code got a mutation and got an 'instinct'.
Instincts are a power and this intrigues scientists and they are in the process of chips for those who do not naturally have instincts. They are also in the process of testing if the new artificial instincts are better than natural ones, which is why the Arena was created.
Children and teens are tested in and forced to fight without any control of their own minds. Will they ever escape?
