Kelvin Horton has always had an issue with anxiety ever since he could remember how it first felt. But this year he's fearing it might be the worst because he still hasn't received a basketball scholarship yet, meanwhile his best friend Xavier hasn't been racking up scholarships anytime he has a game to be played with him being ranked top 10 in the state of Florida. Xavier, unlike Kelvin is the most popular and known kid in school and probably in the district. From the court to the parties, all eyes are usually on him. He loves the attention because it's more than he's getting at home with his dad always AWOL leaving only him to watch over him and his younger brother. One of the main reasons he feels like basketball is his only way to make it out. Reggie, the mutual friend of Kelvin & Xavier is different in his own way. The only issue he wants to have is not having enough hands to count all the money he gets from getting these plays off. Bills need to be paid and with his father away, brother locked up, and moms needing money for meds, the regular 9-5 doesn't cut it in his eyes. He thinks of himself tougher than his father and smarter than his brother, getting caught up is the least of his worries. Lilly grew up with Kelvin and Xavier and damn near knows them like the back of her hand. Kelvin being there for her when her father passed and Xavier being there whenever a guy tried to push up on her to heavy. Out of the group, she wants to always be the one to make sure their ok even if she isn't feeling the most peachy herself with her on life problems. This story follows 5 friends as they try and maneuver through life's roadblocks as they have to deal with gangs, drugs, and relationships that make them have to face their problems head on instead of running from life's crazy hand.
