Family are those we pick along the way.

Cynthia is bound to learn this lesson the hard way. Raised in the Foster system, and recently widowed, she finds herself in the very difficult situation of raising her six-years-old daughter, her one and only driving force, without any kind of support.

But this is no small feat. Bills pile up in her house, and day after day it gets increasingly hard to get as much as a decent meal on her table. If this keeps up, Cynthia risks even losing her daughter.

It's Mathilde Royston, a difficult and lonely old woman, the one giving Cynthia the chance she so desperately needs. Although eccentric and short-tempered, Mathilde's heart isn't carved from stone, and though she likes to keep others away, she can't help but warm up for the witty six-year-old Jeanne, thus setting up the foundations in which this unlikely trio will learn the most important lesson of their lives: nothing beats the bond of a family, not even if isn't blood-related.

Sixteen-year-old "model Christian" LeAnna Daniels is rooted in God's Word. She knows she's His Child. There's nothing she can't handle with His help. She knows every rule there is to know in the Bible. She knows exactly how to witness. Or so she thinks. Then her family takes in Rita, a wild, reckless fifteen-year-old who was orphaned and placed in foster care at the age of seven. Rita tests LeAnna in ways she never thought God would test her in. When Rita makes a terrible decision and pays the consequences, all LeAnna wants to do is scream at her, and she doesn't understand why. It's a lesson she never thought she would ever need. It's a lesson on how to love someone. Fifteen-year-old "juvenile delinquent" Rita MacKenzie is mad at the world. It's not hard to see why. A fire killed her parents when she was seven, she was separated from her siblings, and a lifetime of trauma and abuse follows her. Then she's sent to what the judge calls her last shot before shes shipped to juvie. And possibly her last chance at a family. No one wants a teenager, after all. She hates it. Strict parents and a foster sister who's constantly trying to shove religion down her throat might just be the last straw for her. But just as she begins to learn that their love- and God's love- has no strings attached, a terrible mistake has her questioning everything, especially God's love. It's a lesson Rita's been neglecting for years. It's a lesson on how to accept love, especially when you know you don't deserve it.

I always loved the lost sibling trope. It's one of my all time favorites to read. I always wanted to read one where the sibling that's lost is a grown up when the family finds her. Never found one so I decided to write one. Hope you enjoy. ♡ ♡ ♡ She grew up with the thought that her biological parents didn't want her, didn't care for her. Why else would you put your months old daughter up for adoption? Now she's the owner of one of the biggest restaurants chains in the US. She's 23 and living her life but suddenly her biological family show up and ruin the peace and whatever happiness she had. ♡ ♡ ♡ Rankings: #1 lostdaughter #1 Mafia #2 fostercare #2 lostsibling
