Peter Parker is dealing with being Peter the teenager, but after something bad happens, he may have to take Peter the Spider-kid a little more seriously. When someone he cares for is hurt after rumored 'ties' with the Spider-man, Peter has to decide whether or not his secret is more important than the emotionally vacant girl he has learned is not-so-complicated, after all.
She's simple, really.

Her dark curls rustle prettily in the light coming from the streetlamp above her as she turns to look at me with a soft facial expression. "Feel free to rescue me from crazies anytime, okay? Just know that if you do, I'll be an ass about it. It's a care package all bundled into one."
She's grinning now. MJ is smiling at her hero. Me. Her Peter.
"Deal?"
My face has lit up, I can feel it. Even though she and I both can't see the happy, goofy, expression that has landed on my face; I can feel it.
My lips stretch against the fabric pressed against them as I bare my brightest smile.
"Deal."
