The Unknown Alchemist

Avery had lived alone in the Cabin her entire life; she just didn't know how long that was. Her only comfort: an enchanted library giving her a window to the world outside. Sapiens rule that world, using their superior bodies and magical skills to built elaborate cities and live forever. But outside the cities faunids, the savage cousins of sapiens, roam the wilderness following only instinct and the laws of nature.

When a winged warrior literally falls out of the sky, Avery puts prejudice aside to save both their lives. She is thrust into a world ruled by magic and might and discovers that humans are on the brink of extinction. Though Avery tries to find her place in the world, she can't quite shake the demons of her past. Why was she trapped in the Cabin? Who cast the spell? Was it to protect her from the world, or to protect the world from her?
