Leia Organa finds herself stuck in a strange alternate/parallel universe where the Empire never came to exist. Meanwhile, trying to navigate a galaxy ruled by the Sith weren't exactly the Jedi Trials Leia Skywalker had expected.
Or: Leia from a universe where Anakin never fell and canon Leia switch places. Now the two of them - and everyone else around them - have to deal with the consequences of their dimensional swap.
This is a very long fic (almost 200k words currently) I am crossposting from Archive of Our Own. I'll post a chapter a day until the whole thing is posted here on wattpad, and then once caught up chapters will be posted every other week. A Long Time Ago, In a Galaxy Far Away
Anakin and Obi-Wan have just rescued the Chancellor and returned to planet side safe and sound. Anakin has finally had his long awaited reunion with Padmé. But it doesn't last for long. The next thing the three of them know, the Force has transported them to a different place. A different universe, to a planet that is known as Earth. Luna Snow Ramsey is nearly fourteen. She is obsessed with Star Wars, friendless, has a past she tries not to think about, and is used to handling everything one way: solo. One night, her world is turned upside down when she meets three people from a place that she had previously thought only existed in her imagination and dreams. Things begin to become steadily more chaotic as time goes on. Luna believes the Force will bring the three back to their proper universe, but until then it is up to her to find a way to keep Anakin from the darkside and warn the two Jedi and Senator of what is to come. It doesn't help that she knows so much about their world and has to be careful of what she tells of their future. From there, things that Luna would normally handle alone are unwilling for her to be able to take care of, and another memory is added to the ever growing pile stitched behind a wall for past memories she doesn't want to think about. Leia had spent months planning how to infiltrate Jabba's Palace and within hours it had all fallen apart. She had successfully freed Han from the carbonite but had little time to rejoice at their reunion as Han was promptly dragged away and Leia was throw into the slave vaults with the other dancers. The only way for Leia to keep her sanity is to think of Han. Before meeting him, Leia could sometimes come off as a little cold and snarky to people who didn't know her well, but through all that she and Han had been through, Leia thought she had finally found someone she could open her heart to, only for him to be ripped from her. Rescuing him from the carbonite, she dared to hope they would never be separated again, but there she was, stuck in the cells with Han's execution growing close. In the week Leia is subjected to slavery, she learns quickly that she must adapt to survive even if that meant giving up her dignity. This story is focused on Ahsoka Tano after Order 66. I have wrote this ongoing story so it intertwines with the plot of the Star Wars movies. Anakin Skywalker will not become Darth Vader. Not yet, anyway. Padmé saved him from a lifetime of regret by pulling him out of the fateful battle between Mace Windu and Chancellor Palpatine. But at some point, he still has to decide if his heart lies with the Jedi or the Sith. Palpatine, undeterred by the loss of his potential apprentice, still devises a way to create the Empire and wipe out the vast majority of the Jedi. He sends various threats directly to Anakin and Padmé to convince them that they and their newborn children are in danger. Fearing for their safety, they split. For years, Anakin and Leia wander throughout the galaxy, dodging the Empire and searching for a greater purpose. Meanwhile, Padmé raises Luke while working with Bail Organa and Mon Mothma to lead the fight against the oppressive Galactic Empire. Anakin is constantly tempted by the Dark Side. Padmé struggles to help the Rebels succeed. Their children mean everything to both of them. The story also features other characters we all know and love, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Han Solo, and Boba Fett. Most of the story takes place 7 years after Revenge of the Sith.
