Outside of Hogwarts, Narcissa embraces her position as a socialite in the Wizarding community and struggles to prevent an upcoming war. Meanwhile, her husband, Lucius, and her sister, Bellatrix, become ever more loyal to Voldemort, putting the entire Black family in jeopardy of attack by the vigilant and rapidly-growing Order of the Phoenix.

Its been two years since the marauders have graduated. James and Lily are married with a baby on the way, and Sirius and Peter are very busy with the Order. Meanwhile, Remus is just trying to survive his transitions in such a volatile time. No one wants to hire a werewolf, and the Order isn't well enough equipped to handle the full moons. Dumbledore offers him a position at the Hogwarts library as an assistant. There he can do research for the Order, as well as spend his moons like he did during his school years. Tessa Downing is a sixth year Hufflepuff. After a summer of chaos and hiding, she's having trouble transitioning back at school.
