In a future society, the length of your life is determined by the number of heartbeats you have left--counting down, every second of every day, from the allotted 2,000,000,000. Most never even reach that number, trading beats for basic essentials. Avyanna has already surpassed that number ten times over. She and her troublesome group of Sybarites throw "tricks" to clash against the standards set by society, burning through hundreds of thousands of beats--chasing death.
