Life and Death, the immortal daughters of Fate. They keep watch over a room of clocks. When a clock runs out of time, they can give the human more time, or take them to the Land of Asphodel, where the souls that have been separated from their dead bodies live. They have to be indifferent to do their job correctly, so when Life becomes fond of a human named Violet, the clock is affected.
