The Yellow Scarf

The girl rides the train, smothered by bodies and anxious thoughts, aware of the eyes on the bare skin of her neck.

The boy rides opposite her, eyes glued to the bare skin of her neck where the yellow scarf should be, unaware that she has noticed his stare.

Both stand in silence, travelling closer to the place where their fates entwine, neither knowing what exactly is awaiting them.

But it is not what they expected.
