"You don't know what it's like to grow up not being able to see any color! Being able to only see in shades of grey!" She muttered in a harsh tone, her voice cracking.
"You're right. I don't know what it's like. But that doesn't mean you can't achieve your dreams." He said hesitantly.
"You don't understand!" She cried. "I was fine without being able to see color until I met you! You don't know how frustrating it is to..." She stopped herself from saying what was really bothering her. What she hasn't told anyone. The reason she hasn't told anyone? She was afraid of what it might mean for her if she finally accepted it and said it out loud.
   "To what, Andrea?"
📖📖📖📖📖📖

Andrea is your typical teenager. She's sixteen and just got her drivers license. Boring black, shoulder length, frizzy hair. Hazel or very light brown eyes. She wasn't tall but she wasn't short either. About five feet and four inches tall. She was skinny but not skinny enough to worry about it. Yeah, pretty average life.

Oh wait, one more thing you need to know.

She can't see color. All she sees are shades of grey. Well, that is until one fateful day when she sees something she thought impossible. But what does that mean for her? What does it mean for her family and her friends from school?
📖📖📖📖📖📖

Remington is definitely not like other boys his age. Most people see him as average but that is only because they never try to get to know the real him and all the complications that come with. Most people see a skinny, six foot tall seventeen year old with rich parents. He inherited his mom's bright blue eyes but got his dad's dark brown almost black hair.
Some things you need to know? He lives on his own because his parents are to busy to stay with him. They also let him pick where he wanted to live. He did his best to find a small town where little to no one knew his family. Will Andrea be the one to solve the mystery that is Remington Taylors?

#9 in UTOPIA 3/3/19 I couldn't take my eyes off of Dean as he stared at the glimmering stars in the night sky. "I believe the story of our lives is already written in the stars. Our destiny is already given to us. The end of our lives will always end the same, no matter what we try to do to change it." I watched a strand of his blond hair fall over his ear. "What does that mean?" "It means that if you are the person who is destined to take the two parts of this country and bring them together, then it will happen one way or another." His heterochromia eyes found mine and I found myself entranced by them. "And Mel, by the looks of things right now, I'd say your story has started and you are already working towards your destiny." ** One country. Two nations. After the country split in two, the nations renamed themselves the Ameliorates and the Extricates. The Ameliorates live in a community full of stability and order. Melody Sharpe is the daughter of the Ameliorates' leaders. All her life she was told that the Extricates lived in a place full of chaos and destruction. What happens when she finds herself questioning everything she had once been taught? What does she do when she meets Dean Martin--the son of the Extricate leaders--who tells her that everything she knows is a lie? Why did the Extricates really split away from the Ameliorates? Why do the Extricates fear the Ameliorates more than anything else? Are the Extricates really the "bad" side? Melody starts asking questions--something she isn't supposed to do--and it might just lead her into the middle of a war.

I could feel the warmth of his breath, tantalizingly close, as it brushed against my ear, sending a rush of sensations through my body. "W-What?" "Breathing. Something I've always known how to do, yet sometimes it seems impossible. I sat in the passenger seat of a red convertible Mustang. The car belonged to my... would you call him my owner? I sat with my knees pulled up to my chest, I put my hand on the window of the car, wiping away some of the fog. My father and the guy who had just bought me, shook hands, finalizing the arrangement, as they stood on our front porch... or could you even call it that? The rain came down making it hard to see. Yes, breathing. Everyone knows how to do it, but it's normal for someone to forget how to, right? Right now, I felt as if my lungs had been ripped from my chest... or was that just my heart? My buyer ran from the porch, covering his head with his jacket. He stepped into his Mustang, and pulled it into reverse. Then with a simple movement, he turned the vehicle around and headed down the drive. Not every blonde is stupid. In the South if you're a beautiful, blonde, blue-eyed girl high expectations are made. Either you're not extremely smart, so you find yourself a suitable husband to take care of you. Or you are smart and you just pretend to be dumb so you find yourself a suitable husband to take care of you. All her life Avery Skinner has been told what to do and how to do it- by everyone. By her mother, the girls she calls friends, the guys in school, teachers, family, even Mark the mailman. Needless to say, she's sick of it. Its time Avery took control of her life or at least get a firm grip on the sucker. She's loved football ever since she was a little girl. Yet she could never play because ladies aren't supposed to do such barbaric things. Especially in the South- unless its a rodeo and you're wearing those ridiculously tight outfits that show you're navel or showing you can hold your liquor. Avery has longed to be on the field, throwing the ball instead of cheering on the team her dad coaches that can't seem to win. Then her best friend Austin forces Avery to and for sometime everyone is fooled. But the truth can only be hidden for so long. The moment the townsfolk of Stonehenge, Alabama learned it was a girl under that helmet, was the moment true colors showed. It hasn't been easy and it won't get any better but Avery is here to play. * Avery is going to face REAL life problems, and not nice people. She's going to deal with sexual harassment, mean words, rude people, pregnancy, injuries, steroids, etc.. In this story I want to exemplify how sexist and cruel humans can be. There will be hard moments, but I want to put it out there because it IS a serious problem. Harsh language and such will be present. You have been warned, don't read it then complain. This was more than she could ever handle remembering. **** "Wow, I thought it was just you guys and Artemis." "There's a whole world of gangs. There are gangs in every country, some even I don't know as a leader." "Is it tough being a leader?" "Some times. Especially when I have to deal with loss. But I also give some opportunities to people who need it. I've even given a homeless man a small job and it set him up for life." "That's cool. Are the Zusians tyrants. I mean were they?" something about the name doesn't shake me. It's stuck in my head for some reason. "They more are now. There's speculation that a kid got out safe and will one day take back the leadership, but after seeing the wreckage first hand, I don't think anybody left it alive," he says it. But he doesn't sound like he even believes himself. "Did the kid get out? Is it even slightly possible?" "Between you and me. I helped her escape. I know she got out. But I don't think she lived long after we lost contact. Why do you ask?" "Something about the name... It is vaguely familiar but I don't know why. Maybe it's just my meds." "You might have just heard it before." *** Cover by @_scintillas
