Samantha Mane used to be best friends with Carter Brown, which proved to cause her a lot of trouble even when he was around. But when he left things got worse. Carter left town at the age of ten, leaving Samantha to defend herself against the cruel Derek Herry. However, seven years on Carter is back and Samantha isn't the same sweet innocent girl he remembers her to be. She's angry, insecure and bitter as a result of Derek's games and she still has to deal with him before she can even think about Carter. Carter has his work cut out as it proves difficult to get through the barriers Samantha has built up over the years.
