It all started with a headache.

While the ordinary Texan life of Cornelia "Nella" Cornfield had always been ridden with a migraine of unworldly proportion, she never expected it to be actually magical. She never expected to start growing a horn in the middle of her forehead - and she most certainly didn't expect to be the bearer of the 'monoceros gene'. In fact, the whole unicorn thing wasn't something she had even believed possible, before she started turning into one.

Ayn is a witch with healing powers. Shapeshifters have killed her parents and the only animals she cannot speak with are wolves. When she graduates from the Teaching Clan and finds out that she has to cross the River and live in the Wolves' Mountains for one year, she is less than amused. Kari, first-born shapeshifter Alpha, almost lost his wolf after the death of his mate. He could rise again and become the pack leader if only he would complete his training ...and find another suitable Luna. When he realizes that his second chance is his mother's guest, a daydreaming stubborn witch from across the River, he is less than amused. The bond may be a strong force, but can a witch walk the Wolves' Way and face the dangers it is paved with? **** "I need to stop..." I sigh, catching her wrist before her fingers reach the back of my neck, and I untangle her arm from me. She lingers on the recliner but now there is a big gap between our bodies. The warmth she left on my skin is quickly dissipating in the spring night. "Fine." Ayn stands and searches my eyes. Her scowl has my wolf whimper in submission and makes me curse my self-imposed hard line. "I am going to need your hoodie," she orders, stretching her hand out to me. "What?" I exclaim, briefly shocked by both the tone and the content of her words. My hands however are already executing her command, unzipping my jacket. "The last time I was able to sleep, I was covered with your hoodie. Your scent is comforting." She states it plainly as if it would be an obvious and broadly known fact. Like the Earth being round. Like two being a prime number. #1 in Healer - December 2021 #7 in Lycan - December 2022 ~95 000 words Cover photo by Jr Korpa via Unsplash Cover photo by Marc-Olivier Jodoin via Unsplash hi

Hey! This is my first swing at a shifter story, that's a nickname for a story involving primarily shapeshifters. I hope you like it, and I hope it turns out okay! ---- What happens if you meet a witch at school? What happens when she gives you advice about your health? And what happens when, after she's done that, something... primal... wakes up inside you? Well, this is one idea, and most likely the most stupid way of dealing with the problem. But hey, humans are suckers for idiocy. Who's for a road trip? :3
