Haley has been to hell and back.

For months, she was held prisoner by a pair of notorious serial killers who slaughtered her family and kept her alive as their own personal plaything. After managing to escape, Haley becomes the only surviving victim of the two killers, making her the key witness in the case against them. The only problem? The police only caught one of the killers, leaving the other still out there, looking for his escaped piece of prey.

Owen is an FBI agent with a chip on his shoulder. After returning from a suspension, he's assigned to watch over Haley as she hides in the witness protection program. The last thing he wants to do is babysit some girl who barely speaks, but he'll do anything to earn his way back into his boss's good graces.

What happens when Owen finds himself drawn to his charge? What happens when Haley is tempted to let her FBI agent into her nightmare?

More importantly, will she ever be safe when there is someone looking for her who wants her dead?
