It's about this family that has lived in Delaware for 12 years that doesn't want to move but the parents think that it's best for them to move but the kids start to disagree about the whole moving problem technically the parents have 18 kids in total 14 older ones and 4 younger children problem after problem starts to arise one of the problem is oh ok what school will we all be going to why are we all moving did dad or mom get a new jobs or something because nobody ever asked to leave our own home anyway we love our home just the way it is well the kids should pack everything and make sure they don't leave anything behind Because the house estates will be swinging by at 10 in the morning sharp before the kids ever go to brush there teeth and head to their bedrooms the parents tell the kids that they BOTH have Jobs down to Georgia ?? none of the kids say anything not one...

People went crazy buying another house, a boat, a Hummer (at 10 miles to the gallon). I distinctly remember two couples, in their late 30s, who were shopping together in Toys R Us. They had a video camera and were discussing the "rules" to this shopping trip. The rules were they had to look into the camera and say what they were buying, for who and why. And the carts had to be overflowing with toys. It was as if they had dreamed their entire lives of doing a "who cares how much it costs" shopping spree at Toys R Us for their children. Just recklessly spending on a bunch of STUFF. That was 2007. And then came 2008. But, more disturbing to me, was the impact it had on families. I think moms and dads lost themselves in providing stuff for their kids and not giving their kids time. And I saw the kids suffer because of it. So, I did a little research and a lot of observing and I wrote a mostly fictional story about an upper-middle class family in the OC. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried. The house Michael now lives in is the one where she lived with her family, and her old room is now his. She appears to him one night, trying to taunt him, but against her will she is falling in love with the boy who lives in her old room.
