The sun faded over the deep brown mountains in the distance, the light around them. Flashlights shined through the trees of the dark forest, searching for the beast that had been terrorizing the people and animals of the small town, they listened carefully aware of the soft songs the birds were singing and the awakening of the crickets and frogs.Twigs snapped to the left of the search party, flashlights instantly swinging in hopes of seeing the beast. But nothing was seen, and silence emitted around them, no soft birds singing, no crickets, no frogs......silence. The eerie silence. They continued their search, slowly stepping forward as if one more step would kill them all. Samuel, one of the five men shone his flashlight behind them, paranoid, begging the others to just turn around and abandon the mission, but of course they never listen. Suddenly a pair of bright blue eyes shined under the brightness of the flashlight. Despite being paralyzed in fear he managed to squeak out "u-um guys?" The other four turned, looking at him slightly over their shoulders, but they were too late, the beast pounced landing on Jake, scratching down his chest before biting his neck, his head lolled to the side, stareing Samuel dead in the eyes as his blood and insides slowly seeped out. The beast slowly stepped off of the dead body the last 4 snapping back into reality, backing up slowly, watching the beast closely, monitoring its every move. It turned slightly and disappeared into the forest. The four men stood back to back searching for a second to see if the beast was gone, eyes still stuck on Jake's body Samuel didn't notice the beast pounce onto the others cutting them with its claws, causing blood to pool everywhere and flashlights to go flying, looking the beast right in the eyes Samuel slowly backed away. The eyes of the beast looked almost human it's dark blue eyes mesmerized. Snapping into reality he turned around and RAN..........

Carlisia ran as fast as her sore legs would let her. Her top was ripped and her knees scabbed from all the time she had tripped on the rough patchy ground. She tripped again, blood dripped from the corner of her mouth as a stone bust her lip. She quickly got up, and continued to run. She could feel his presence. Not chasing her, no. Observing her. He was amused how she thought she could run away. Carlisia's knees buckled underneath her again, she was so tired and in so much pain. A sob escaped her lips, she couldn't take it anymore. Sniffling, she took deep breaths, trying to get up but her legs wouldn't let her. They were just too bruised. She sighed, this was it perhaps. She rolled onto her back and pushed herself up against a tree, just as a figure emerged in front of her. "Tired I see?" The dark voice said after a moment of silence. "P-please just let me go." Carlisia whispered. Her throat was dry from all the screaming earlier. "Where would you go Carlisia? Hmm? There is no where to run to." He mused as he casually strolled in front of her. Clearly amused by the situation. "Well, there are places." He said sarcastically, swatting his hand in the air for emphasis. "Just not ones where you can hide." He tusked finally looking at her straight in the eyes. "There isn't a place in this world, no nook, no cranny, where I can not get you from. I need you to understand that love." He said as he crouched in front of her and tenderly brought a strand of her loose locks to his nose and took a deep breath, momentarily closing his eyes. "I will find you from any depth of this universe." he breathed out. Tears fell from Carlisia's eyes as she looked at the side, trying to push her face away from him, breathing as if a deer caught in headlights. "Well, not that I will let you leave in the first place." He chuckled, tugging at the strand as he finally opened his eyes. They were once again golden. Copyright 2021 ©
