This story takes place in the eyes of Hope, a 16 year old girl who is immune (Like Ellie). Her dad's best friend Caleb has to return Hope to the fireflies by the help of Caleb's old firefly friend Jennifer. Along with Caleb and Hope is Mack, who is 19 years old and is rather immature. But when Caleb brings Hope to the fireflies, the fireflies don't believe Caleb about Hope and sends them away. Caleb and Mack are furious. They ignore Hope,  Hope realizes that she is the cause of all their problems so she does the only thing she can. Run away.
