The story of a revolution against government in the Middle Ages told from the perspective of an impoverished teenage boy. Roland must grasp what is happening around him to stay alive but in the process he gets a view of some of the most important decisions about identity of country and self. Along the way, he learns how different groups of people interact in revolution and the dangers that can come from not being involved.
