At the age of 21 Valerie goes through a creature inheritance, four years later at the age of 25 she meets Rosalie Cullen and later the rest of the Olympic Coven. Along the way she becomes a Mother and Aunt figure to the Vampire teens and a sister figure to Carlisle and Esme.

When Edward finds his blood singer she is there to support him but the thing is she doesn't approve of Bella Swan.

And when Edward goes to Volterra to kill himself upon hearing the death of his blood singer, Valerie gets caught in Volturi's web when it is discovered she is mated to Marcus Volturi.
