When Ashton comes out to his parents they aren't very pleased. They basically disown him. When Ashton resorts to cutting and the love of his life, and bestfriend Luke sees it doesn't make matters much better in Ashton's opinion considering he really does not want to tell Luke any of the reason why.
When Luke sees Ashton has cuts again he's devastated. How could this perky young boy possibly have such a rough at home life Luke wonders. But he doesn't question him about it remembering how Ash didn't want to say anything about them last time so instead he takes it upon himself to bring him in to the Hemmings household where rainbows run freely (pun not intended)
