But, one day when the most powerful of the general orgs attack them, an unfortunate incident suddenly occurs. Taylor has now disappeared. Cole is determined to find Taylor and he is certain that when he finds her, he will uncover the mystery behind her disappearance. Alyssa is also grieving and she is worried about Taylor very much. But shadows surround Taylor where she is at that time and if the discovery is found of why, it could place Taylor in more danger than anyone could ever anticipate. The danger is later avoided, but an org is sent to track Taylor when she is gone and it presents a new danger and challenge for her- the challenge of surviving. Unknowingly, they have been hired by a "Shadow Client" to target a number of operatives of the White Hand, a secret organization working in the highest echelons of power. White Hand's controller, Earl Adler, otherwise known as: The Puppeteer, approaches one of the latest additions to the Guardians and makes them a deal: Eliminate the Shadow Client and his milita in order to learn about the past of the Guardians' second-in-command, Misaki Moon, otherwise known as: Moonlark. But the Guardians then discovered that the Shadow Militia is commanded by Grant Shepherd, one of Moonlark's lost childhood friends. And so, the Guardians switch sides to fulfil an old pact: Destroy the White Hand and free the world from its grasp. Together, they manage to capture The Puppeteer, forcing him to reveal the identities of the three founders of the White Hand.
