The Starr family is not as perfect as it appears to be. Andy would know. Since her parent's business took off, they were too busy to care about anything else, including their three kids, Thomas, Andrea, and Daniel. When Thomas dies, Andy still thinks they don't care. Her older brother was an adventurer; defying their parents wishes and dropping college, Thomas decides to see the world, and help those around him. After a long trip to Peru as a volunteer, Thomas is not the same when he returns- drugs and alcohol taking a portion of his life. In his funeral, Andy gets her hands on his leather backpack, where inside she finds a notebook. It's her turn now; following every single step int he notebook, Andy finds herself in Peru, trying to understand what happened to her brother. She has one year- she better make it worth it.
