Vanessa was the type of girl who sat at home in pajamas, re-watching reruns that she had already seen three times. She never missed a day of school, and never made below a B plus in her life. She had always had to live up to her parents' high expectations, but when she was with him, she felt like the world was hers. Chase was the boy that every girl at Valley-brook High would kill for, and do anything for him to notice them. He's the captain of the baseball team and the hottest guy in the eleventh grade, but he was much more than that. He's smart, funny and has a smile that could light up the entire world, according to Vanessa. As other girls at Valley-brook High start to close in on Chase, Vanessa tries to find a way to express her feelings for him before it's too late. The only problem is that she has no idea how to.

Brooke is a different girl. She was raised in and out of foster homes. Most children raised in and out of foster homes end up working at low-life places their whole life, but Brooke refused to let her situation and how much she hated her life dictate her future and how she could, and would, one day be happy. She worked as hard as should could to keep her perfect grades, and when the time came to apply to colleges, she had so many scholarships that she had everything paid for, even her textbooks. She got into Stanford, and fought hard to get on the Baseball team. Everyone was against it. Girls should be on Softball. So when she goes to tryout for the Yankees, the whole team is against it. Until she hits the ball into the stands. Her essence attracts the guys to her, but they hate the thought of a girl on their team. Eventually, a wonderful guy will enter her life, addicted to her essence and her will and how mesmerizing she is. Will Brooke be able to accept that somebody could actually like her for something other than her looks?
