The rock landed and no one payed it anymore mind than an asteroid or comet, I mean afterall it landed up in the mountains, and didn't hurt anyone. Most people say that rock was the marking of our doom. Within 24 hours of it crashing into the Adirondack mountains all women on Earth just faded from existence.
