Katherine Kane was born on the Ark, a space station that was home to the last surviving members of the human race. Being the trouble-making kid of Marcus Kane made her well known among the guards on the Ark, however being the kid who leaked classified information on the truth about her family caused her to be well known in Prison Station.
Katherine was awaiting her 18th birthday to be executed for her crimes but was instead told that she and 99 other teenager prisoners were being sent to Earth for the first time in 97 years since the nuclear apocalypse.
But how can a bunch of teenagers survive a radiation-soaked planet?

It's based loosely on the book series but follows (for the most part) the plot of the CW show. Some plot scenes and Katherine's storyline are mine.

Will she be able to overcome her emotional and mental walls, even if it means that she'd be vulnerable? Being on the ground will change Hailey in ways that the people on the ark would never expect. Eve is the daughter of councilman Marcus Kane, and for four years straight she was abused by her awful step-mother; Councilor Kane just turned a blind eye to it, because he needed no drama surrounding him and his family. One day, Eve snapped, and that resulted in her killing Kristy--he step-mother--with a screwdriver she stole from the engineering unit. Typically, when a crime is committed on the Ark, the committor is floated into space, but if they are under the age of eighteen they must be held in a prison cell until the age of eighteen when they are reviewed. Eve was locked up for six months, but one-hundred juvenile delinquents including herself were sent to Earth to see if it was habitable. While on the ground, Eve desperately tries to seem as if she didn't brutally kill her step-mother, but once somebody finds out all hell brakes loose.
